3DEXPERIENCE World 2020

Conference; a formal meeting that typically takes place over several days and involves people with a shared interest, especially one held regularly by an association or organization.

A formal meeting with people of shared interest is precisely what happened in Nashville, Tennessee February 9th-12th. From all around the world, users from a variety of industries, roles, and occupations met to discuss the future of the platform that they’ve come to love. I had the pleasure of being in attendance at the largest Dassault Systèmes group meeting in the world to not only learn how to utilize the software to its full potential, but to also network, discuss partnering with potential vendors, and just have fun! This blog will highlight what can be expected from attending the event, the festivities after the classes, and some lessons learned.

Sessions, sessions, sessions!

If getting hands-on experience with some of the world’s best designers, project managers/engineers, or even the CEO of Dassault Systèmes himself Bernard Charlés is what you’re into then 3DEXPERIENCE World is the place for you. Customers specifically of Dassault Systèmes were able to provide motivation and their journey with the audience, attendees also heard from Dean Kamen who is most known for the invention of the Segway, Sam Rogers a jetsuit designer and pilot for Gravity Industries, and Brad Thompson a YouTuber with Impact Props showing off his incredible 3D printed designs. Classes were broken up into more of a lecture style where the presenter would present from their own PowerPoint on a specific topic. Other classes were more hands-on where each participant would have their own computer to work on and follow the presenter’s exercises. The ability to ask the experts questions that you’ve been itching to learn more about is a huge benefit to attending these sessions.

Bash on Broadway!

With Tuesday sessions wrapping up, there was still one more final surprise for the day: The Bash on Broadway. In the middle of the strip in Nashville, the organizers of the event blocked off a couple of the more popular bars such as Ole Red and Tequila Cowboy as well as open a tent exclusively attendees of 3DEXPERIENCE World. Being that the event was in Nashville, there was no shortage of talented artists and bands on every floor of the bar. Behind all the chatter and music, networking and relationship building continued as business cards were being exchanged by person after person. And you never know who you'll run into - like Gian Paolo Bassi the CEO of SolidWorks enjoying the night.

Lessons Learned

All-in-all, this business trip had been nothing short of amazing. Meeting and learning from experts in the industry is something I think everyone can get on board with. If there are any hesitations on whether 3DEXPERIENCEWorld is a beneficial event for a single person or a company, pull the trigger and attend! There is a little something for everyone in this 4-day long event. One tip for anyone looking to attend in the future is to be present in as many General Session presentations as possible. These presentations are great for seeing the future of the platform with some live previews of it at work, the good and the bad. 3DEXPERIENCE World is the must-attend event for anyone interested in any of the products or services Dassault Systèmes has to offer.
