3DEXPERIENCE Works

Change, you may love it, you may hate it, but in today’s world, it happens at an ever-increasing rate. You’ve been using SolidWorks for much of your career and can’t imagine using anything else or you recently were introduced and just started to get comfortable with the software and now 3DEXPERIENCE pops up. Luckily, the Dassault Systèmes team has your concerns in mind and introduced 3DEXPERIENCE Works.

3DEXPERIENCE Works is a package aimed to help integrate SolidWorks users into the platform experience. It provides solutions for the four primary stages of product development: design (SolidWorks), simulate (Simulia), manufacture (DelmiaWorks), and manage (Enovia).

Design

As you may or may not know, 3DEXPERIENCE offers cloud-based modeling packages such as xDesign and xShape. You can read more about these software packages and their capabilities here. They are contained in the 3DSculptor and 3DCreator roles. Read more about 3DEXPERIENCE roles here. However, they will not be replacing SolidWorks, rather partnering with it. The desktop modeling that you know and love will still be available and is now more powerful than ever with these cloud-based assistants.

Simulate

Simulation and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software have become more widely used day by day. In the past, it has always been an inconvenience to make any changes to a model. Once changes were made, the model would have to be reset into the analysis software. Luckily, by using the cloud-based software, which is conveniently directly linked to SolidWorks, once any changes are made in the model, they are automatically updated within the simulation. The cloud-based computing provides access to a greater number of cores, completing your simulations faster and freeing up your computer for design work in the meantime.

Manufacture

Extensive amounts of time can be lost due to disconnect between the design and manufacturing processes. What was once IQMS, now DelmiaWorks provides various solutions to ensure this does not happen. It provides Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software that helps tie together sales, order processing, inventory, and more. It can even use live data collected from the manufacturing floor. In addition, it offers Quality Management Software (QMS) and more, all while offering seamless integration between teams on a cloud-based platform.

Manage

Without proper planning a project can veer off track, going over budget and extending deadlines. This is all too easily avoided with the use of a proper management software. Enovia provides the tools necessary for the proper data and lifecycle management of all projects. Plus, just as with many of the other tools available on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, it is a cloud-based solution, allowing you to access and manage from anywhere, anytime. This pairs well with SolidWorks, allowing stakeholders and project managers access to the SolidWorks CAD data from the cloud, and even allows them to provide digital markups, while you continue to work on the model on the desktop application. The CAD data being saved in the cloud also allows for insurance against losing files in addition to easy access from anywhere.

3DEXPERIENCE Works is aptly named, as it works for you to ensure you can continue using the SolidWorks software you know and love, all while integrating many other important tools. The interconnectivity and streamlining of these tools will result in faster than ever project timelines with less frustrations and errors.
