Introduction to DraftSight

Inspiration and design ideas can spark at any time leaving some to the mercy of napkin sketches before the idea may disappear. Okay, some instances may not be that dramatic but none the less, napkin sketched ideas are just as easy to create in DraftSight as it is by hand. DraftSight is an easy to use tool for 2D part design that operates in .dxf and .dwg formats which can be shared for collaboration or sent to manufactures. Turning your idea into a prototype design using DraftSight can be done with ease where you can then wrestle with the part to see where better changes can be made.

Other features of DraftSight include basic modeling techniques for a 3D visual of the 2D drawing, drawing conversion where .png and .jpeg pictures can be easily converted within DraftSight. DraftSight for the past several years was free to use, but going into the 2020 new year, DraftSight is no longer free to download. A one-time payment of $149.00 is now required if you’d like to continue after a 30-Day free trial.
